Hey there flower lover!
One of our long term goals here at Bloombox Co is to source all our flowers and botanicals from local growers, The wonderful thing about living in Australia is that our varied climate, from warm tropics to chilly mountains means that we have access to a huge variety of botanicals all year round.
This week we’re celebrating Aussie grown botanical diversity! We’ve got your traditional natives sorted with a stunning protea and fragrant eucalyptus, and we’ve got the MOST AMAZING bunch of chubby pink double tulips grown in Victoria.
We love these babies all in one vase together – it’s a super interesting and eclectic mix that just works, which means that it will look great in any home. Just WAIT til those tulips open up – they’ll keep you smiling all week long. And who wouldn’t want a smile trigger in their home?
Here’s what you’ll need.
A bunch of double tulips
A single protea
Native Australian foliage (we love Eucalyptus)
Flower shears or secateurs
A sturdy vase and fresh water
Create a frame with your eucalyptus, keeping it tall and letting it hang wide.
2. Measure up
Hold your protea up and snip to the right length. You want to leave it at a height between the top of the eucalyptus and the lip of your vase.
Pop in your protea amongst the gum!
4. Bunch up
Setting a few tulips aside, gather up the rest into a bunch which will become the focal point of your arrangement.
Pop your tulips into the vase, slightly off centre for a more interesting balance to your arrangement.
Add in your last few tulips, allowing their natural droop to be a feature out the side of your arrangement. Enjoy!
