Don’t know about you but we’re totally overwhelmed with manufactured romance post V-Day (or is that D Day?) last Sunday. We’re suckers for love as much as the next babe, but there are only so many sparkly basketweave raffia hearts you can take while suppressing your gag reflex.
To reinstate our faith in true romance, we’re taking our inspiration cues all the way back from where it all started. Romeo and Juliet. The 1996 Leo/Claire Danes version, obviously! Because love at first sight doesn’t get more romantic than through a fish tank, right?
This week, throw on The Cardigans’ Lovefool, close your eyes and reminisce on all those just post pubescent tears shed over Leo (your choice of Romeo + Juliet OR Titanic). Then open your eyes, pee yourself laughing, and indulge in a bit of true love – arranging beautiful flowers for yourself! But we won’t hold it against you if you use a fish tank as a vase this week 😉

By any other name would smell as sweet”

In the box this week

Pink roses
These vibrant roses are the star of this week’s box! True romance doesn’t come much brighter.
Remove majority of the lower leaves and trim the ends to reveal a fresh surface to improve the uptake of water.

Easter daisies
We know that hot cross buns are just around the corner when we see these little beauties pop into bloom.
These rustic branchy botanicals look gorgeous bunched into a plain pitcher or separates into delicate twigs and paired with other feminine blossoms (like this week’s roses).
Remove as much lower foliage as possible and change water regularly.

Lisiathus
These oh-so-dainty beauties are a true favourite of ours. Seemingly soft and insubstantial but actually surprisingly hardy, they elevate a posy to new heights with their undeniable southern belle charm.
This one’s easy to care for – keep stems clean and free of excess foliage, and try not to bruise the petals too much.

Veronica
Veronica is a serious favourite of ours! With it’s traily tips and wildflower vibes, this pretty filler that comes in pink, purple and blue is the perfect supporting act to soften larger blooms. This week’s are a fresh white with a hint of pink at the edges, and a little goes a long way.
Styling instructions

1. Prepare your stems
Strip and clean your stems, removing any leaves that would fall below the water line – just by pulling the leaves off. Beware of thorns!

2. Trim lisianthus into useable lengths
If you happen to get very “branchy” lisianthus, separate any long stemmed flower heads into separate stems to make the most of your blooms!

3. Start your posy
Lay your first bloom between the thumb and index finger of your left hand (if right handed).
We like to start with something strong, like a rose.

4. Add stems, twisting as you go
Add individual stems one at a time, twisting and rotating as you go. As we’re going for a wildflowery look, add your stems in random order.

6. Tie off your posy
Once you are happy with your posy or have used up all your blooms, lay it flat on the table and tie it off with a length of twine.

6. Measure and trim
By holding your posy up against your vase, trim off the excess stems of your posy.

7. Pop into your chosen vase
We went for this cute, sparkly fishbowl.
Pop your posy in and adjust your blooms so they sit nicely.

8. Romance yourself!
Pat yourself on the back and breathe in the sweet scent of roses and your own awesome creativity.
Pop this super feminine arrangement on your desk or coffee table for company while you take over the world.
Watch it in action!
